KL: What motivated you to start writing and when?
BLAZE: I have always been inspired- as a child I didn't need toys. Paper and pen were enough. I started off drawing- a picture can only say so much so drawing turned into writing by age 10.
KL: What inspired the erotic stories?
BLAZE: Erotica happened to be my first PUBLISHED work. I started with childrens books, as I got older i wrote teen dramas. I was always inspired by horror. I was a big fan Wes Craven, Stephen King, and John Carpenter productions. I wrote horror stories alot at first.
KL: Would you compare yourself/work to the style of other great black authors such as Eric Jerome Dickey, ZANE, etc.?
BLAZE: They are my teachers. My 2nd book is inspired by E. Lynn Harris but not compared. As Raven Symone said "I don't want to be the next Eric Jerome Dickey, I want to be the first Langston John Blaze." I also get inspiration from actors, models, etc.
KL: Other than writing- tell us about your other talents or interests.
BLAZE: Anything in entertainment. "God is giving me all of my tools at different times..." I model and I auditioned for SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE and was cut in the 2nd round. Acting is an aspect my mother said I neglected but when it's suppose to happen for me I will definitely go for it! People asked all the time "What you doin outside pushin buggies for WalMart?" But I liked it because it gave me time to work on my craft because I didn't have to deal with people all day. I found myself acting out my books. Looking crazy like I was talking to myself- but it gave me a lot of time.
KL: Can you give us a synopsis of your book B.E.D in 10 words or less?
BLAZE: The consequences of giving in to temptaion and sexual impulses.
